Dear Dr. Hillman,

I was delighted to discover your web-site today. We moved back to Nashville last year and I've thought of you from time to time, deciding to try to find you today. I took your voice class back in 1997. Very breathy, getting married to a singer who smoked, had done foreign mission work and went on to work at the Oasis Center. Gwen Graves then, Adams now. We moved back to Georgia, he toured for 5 years independently, then in Aug 2002 huge blessings came our way in the form of twin baby boys.

I must admit that I have forgotten your method of pronunciation, that my voice is as ineffective as ever, but your breathing method got me through what could have been the most tramatic event of my life. While giving birth to my first son, Braden, it was your deep breathing that I concentrated on, not lamaz. Then as Connor began his arrival, there were complications and I was rushed to surgery for an emergency C-section, requiring that I be put under. Only the anesthesiologist was no where to be found and my baby was suffocating in the birth canal. Telling the doctor to go ahead and get him, it was your breathing techniques that I focused on as the earlier epideral wore off and the ceasarean began. Shaking beyond control, I took deep breaths, determined to stay calm as I witnessed the entire process and Connor's arrival. The doctors and staff were frantic, yet I felt such peace. God was with us. And deep breathing helped pull me through. We made it. I have two very healthy, ! beautiful boys who will learn to take deep breaths when stressed and practice good posture. I'd love for you to meet them, as long as you won't be too disappointed with my poor voice quality. Perhaps I'll have the opportunity to take a refresher seminar in the future. Thank you for all you taught and the little I have practiced, it has meant so much to me.

Have a great day and God bless!

Gwen

PS. If you ever need a babysitter for your foster babies, I'd be glad to help out. I'm a stay at home mom these days and the twins have given me tons of experience.
